Project Description

Contemporary house extension – Lisburn

The existing house, while large, was a series of small rooms. With a young family the client wanted to create a central family space that better connected to the south facing garden. C60 design Ltd. proposed a contemporary house extension – Lisburn, that opened up the rear of the house and created a kitchen that would serve the whole family. Clever additional storage space was introduced, as well as a useful downstairs WC and utility room. The budget dictated a clever use of materials to connect the new element with the existing to create a natural addition to the house. Zinc was proposed to juxapose against the existing brick but introduce a modern element that successfully frames the large opening bifold doors. A simple vertical corner roof glazed element introduces natural light deep into the plan throughout the day.
