Project Description

The existing house offered the client their perfect location but little else. The 1910 home contained a traditional cellular room layout that separated functional activities and family members. The existing layout did not offer this young family the modern living arrangement that allowed complimentary activities to take place in one open space. Their problem was how to manage a young active family when young children are in other rooms. C60 design Ltd. proposed a simple extension to the rear of the house that created a modern kitchen / dining / living area that connected with the existing mature garden. Acknowledging and accentuating traditional details, the hard wood extended eaves created a quality addition to this beautiful home. High ceilings maximised the natural light entering the space throughout the day and captured views down towards Belfast and the iconic cranes of Harland and Wolff.

“Alan made the whole process of extending our house very easy and straightforward. His designs were inspiring and he had some great ideas to maximise the light in our north facing kitchen which we would never have thought of ourselves. It was easy to work with Alan and we love our finished extension with its brilliant use of space and light.”
